Vivotek is also the first to release an 8 port H.264 stand alone rack mountable video encoder with audio.  This encoder will support 30 fps at D1 resolution, two way audio, PTZ and has a built in Sd/SDHC card slot for recording.

HD PTZ network security cameras are becoming more and more prevalent in the market place.  Panasonic just released two 720p HD PTZ cameras and Axis revamped their outdoor P5530 series PTZ cameras officially releasing the P5532-E and P5534-E.

The Panasonic is a 720p HD camera with 350 degree pan, stepped pan speed and POE/POE+ support.  The new cameras come in a cost-effective indoor and a robust outdoor version with built in heater.

Axis takes their VGA and HD H.264 PTZ P5530 series cameras and put them in a factory installed and supported outdoor enclosure supporting POE+.

Sanyo has made huge strides in the stability of their firmware so if something is not behaving right make sure you upgrade the camera’s firmware and it will probably fix the issue.  Strangely, Sanyo hides the information on how to download the latest firmware so here it is!

latest firmware for the HD cameras are available from the Sanyo security tech support FTP server.

To connect to the FTP server from Internet Explorer connect to the following site:

ftp://firmware:sanyo@69.105.24.18

once connected copy the folder or right click on files and “save target as”
save files to your desktop.

If you have a FTP client app use the following for the site:

address: 69.105.24.18
username: firmware
password: sanyo

Once in you can browse to the “HD Cameras” folder and select the firmware that matches your camera model.
